Beautiful and easy to use mac keylogger for monitoring of your kids and home mac.In our testing, it gets 370 out of possible 772 points.A mac keylogger from SpectorSoft, eBlaster for Mac is a keylogger with functionality good for parental control and monitoring of your home computer. Its interface is nice-looking and the keylogger is easy to use.

Installation
InstallationWe mount the installation image and launch the installer. During the installation of eBlaster for Mac we pass through the following set of windows: Introduction → License → Registration → Delivery Options → Security → Installation → Summary.
First of all, we would like to mention that the 'Registration' window requires us to put in the information we got during the purchase, a thing we saw only in keyloggers by SpectorSoft. Second, eBlaster for Mac can be configured to instantly email you the copies of conversations made in chats, so you will be able to turn this feature on or off in 'Delivery Options' window. Third, 'Security' window requires us to enter the password of an administrator in order to continue installation. And finally, four, the installer will not inform you about the need of a reboot, so once you click 'Finish' button in 'Summary' window, your computer will restart.
After a reboot we press the hotkey combination we were informed about in 'Security' window, put in the password set in the same window, and finally see the interface of eBlaster for Mac.
Interface
eBlaster Control PanelWhat we see is called 'eBlaster Control Panel'. Three buttons allowing us to configure eBlaster for Mac, uninstall it or view the help file are located in the top right corner of the window. Below them, in the center, we see three buttons, allowing us to switch between the reports' delivery configuration options, sent reports and the current report. The rest of the window shows the information related to the name of the tab pressed. Everything is self-explanatory and leaves no place for questions.
Report of Recent Activity We will talk a bit about the window showing the current report. In the header of the window we see two elements: first is a button allowing us to send the report, the other one is a search field. Below these elements we see the period of dates and time the report shows the information for. Below this, in the left part, a summary of intercepted information, split into categories is located. In the right part we see identification information about the computer. The rest of the window shows the intercepted information. We have already mentioned that the information is grouped into sections, per its type. This grouping makes navigating the logs and reading them very handy.
Keystrokes Typed
The report itself also looks very nice: the colours are soft and attention to the details amazes. For example every category in their list, having intercepted information draws a button allowing the user to quickly see the intercepted information in the report. The categories in the reports also have the buttons allowing the user to quickly get back to the list of categories. Seems that SpectorSoft has very good usability-experts as their eBlaster for Mac is a pleasure to use! We will not describe the window allowing us to configure eBlaster for Mac as you can read about it in our review of Spector Pro for Mac — these two windows look almost the same.
OS Support
SpectorSoft's eBlaster for Mac runs on all the versions of OS X operating system from 10.5 Leopard to the current 10.8 Mountain Lion.
Security
The security of eBlaster for Mac is on a very high level. The keylogger is hidden greatly, is protected by password and can be accessed by pressing a hotkey combination (yet can't be opened by typing a keyword).
It also can't be set to uninstall itself on a specified date. However, eBlaster for Mac not only can warn computer's users that they are under monitoring, but also allows changing the default warning text.
Monitoring
Program ActivityThere is much that we should say about eBlaster for Mac and 'Monitoring' section. First of all, the keylogger is very good at file-activity monitoring as it logs creating, deleting and renaming of files. Second, this doesn't apply to files on local drives as turning file tracking on for them is impossible in current version of eBlaster for Mac. Third, eBlaster for Mac monitors system log on and off time, but not system inactivity. Fourth, it doesn't make screenshots. Most probably, this is caused by the fact that the keylogger is oriented on sending the log-files via email, so attaching the screenshots can hardly increase the size of the reports. Anyway, nowadays screenshot making is so popular that even the simplest keyloggers have this feature.
What eBlaster for Mac can also do is monitor keychars and system keys pressed, log started applications and printed documents. Unfortunately, it can't log log on passwords, clipboard content, mouse clicks, opened documents and sounds.
Online Monitoring
If you are installing eBlaster for Mac in order to monitor visited URLs, make sure that computer users surf the web in Safari or Firefox, as eBlaster for Mac logs the websites visited in these browsers, leaving the websites opened in Opera and Chrome unlogged. The situation is similar in chats' logging — you will find both sides of chat conversations made in Bonjour and Skype in logs of eBlaster for Mac, and only one of those made in Microsoft, Yahoo and AOL messengers.
Among the good news is ability of the keylogger to log both incoming and outgoing emails, among the bad — its already mentioned inability to make screenshots at all, not of the websites only (a feature listed in 'Online Monitoring' section we are currently talking about).
Reports
Unlike Spector Pro for Mac, eBlaster for Mac can send the log-files remotely, but using only one of the means present in our testing, namely by email. As for the reports' making, you can configure eBlaster for Mac to monitor only users and applications that you are interested in, leaving the rest of applications and users unmonitored. In order not to get lost in the reports of eBlaster for Mac that contain even the events' duration, a search can be used. The keylogger generates the reports from a list of files that are hidden on your computer. You cannot limit the size of these files, but can specify a number of days they will be stored on the disk and then removed.
Other
BlockIt seems that all the Mac keyloggers are available in English only, however, unlike many others eBlaster for Mac can work on schedule, restrict pre-specified websites from visiting and can react when a keyword from a pre-specified list is mentioned.
Unfortunately, it seems that the guys from SpectorSoft forgot to add the feature allowing the users to block the applications they have previously specified, from starting.
The Bottom Line
Summing up we can say that despite some disadvantages, eBlaster for Mac is very beautiful and easy to use mac keylogger that will come in handy if you are interested in monitoring of your home computer or kids.
